Workation Proof Accommodation
A newly opened 4-star hotel in Pudu, KL's vibrant food and market district. Modern rooms, rooftop pool with city skyline views, a dedicated coworking lounge, and free WiFi throughout – with a complimentary shuttle to KL's main transit hubs.
Opened in 2023, the Mercure Kuala Lumpur Trion is the kind of hotel that works particularly well if you want a clean, modern base without paying city-centre prices. It sits in the Pudu–Sungai Besi neighbourhood – not on the tourist trail, but connected. There's a coworking lounge on-site, soundproofed rooms for focused work, a rooftop pool for unwinding after hours, and a free daily shuttle to the nearest MRT station and key shopping hubs. The surrounding streets are packed with hawker stalls and local eateries, which keeps daily costs low. For remote workers who value quiet and value-for-money over walking distance to KLCC, this is a strong option.

The hotel has a dedicated coworking lounge – an actual shared workspace, not just a lobby sofa. For in-room work, every room includes free WiFi, a desk and chair, a coffee and tea maker, and soundproofing throughout. If you're on calls, you'll appreciate the quiet – the corridors are calm and the rooms are well-insulated. The hotel also has meeting and event spaces with AV equipment, making it functional for client calls or small presentations.
There are 228 rooms across 14 floors. Room types include the Classic Superior (with double or twin beds), the Privilege Room, and Suites ranging up to 53 sqm with a king plus two singles – useful if you're travelling with a colleague or staying longer. Higher floors deliver panoramic views of KL Tower, KLCC, TRX, and Merdeka 118 – easily the most praised feature in guest reviews. All rooms come with blackout curtains, minibar, in-room safe, air conditioning, and good-quality toiletries. Cleanliness scores on Agoda consistently hit 9.2 or above.
The outdoor infinity pool is positioned to catch the KL skyline and is the standout feature of the property. It's compact but clean, and the views – particularly at dusk – make it worth the trip up. A poolside bar with handcrafted cocktails sits adjacent. If you'd rather work out than swim, there's a fitness centre with modern equipment. The rooftop terrace area doubles as a popular sunset spot, and the hotel's bar setup means you don't have to leave the building for an after-work drink.
Pudu is one of KL's most authentic food neighbourhoods – hawker stalls, wet markets, and local kopitiam-style cafes line the streets around the hotel. There's a 7-Eleven and other convenience stores within easy walking distance for quick meals. The hotel itself has two restaurants serving Malaysian and international fare, plus a breakfast buffet each morning (add-on, around RM60). For more variety, the shuttle service drops you at MyTown or Sunway Velocity in minutes – both have extensive food courts and casual dining options.
The hotel is in the Pudu–Sungai Besi corridor, approximately 5 km southeast of the KL city centre. Chan Sow Lin MRT and LRT stations are around 800 metres on foot. A complimentary hotel shuttle runs daily at 9:30am, 2:30pm, and 4:30pm to Chan Sow Lin station, TRX, Sunway Velocity, and MyTown. Jalan Alor and Bukit Bintang are roughly 2.4–2.7 km away. Berjaya Times Square is about 2 km to the northwest.
The Mercure KL Trion punches above its price point. It's new, consistently clean, and professionally staffed – which matters when you're staying for more than a weekend. The coworking lounge and soundproof rooms are genuine workation features rather than marketing language. The location in Pudu is less convenient for sightseeing, but for focused remote work stints it's actually an advantage – quieter, cheaper, and close enough to central KL via MRT or the hotel's own shuttle. The views from upper floors are genuinely impressive, and the rooftop pool rounds off a well-balanced stay.
The view was a bomb — 4 towers: KL118, KL Tower, KLCC and TRX. Rooms were clean, comfortable pillow and bed, breakfast very nice. Security also very friendly. The view was superb during night time. Early morning we can see Genting from our room. Convenient restaurant available in the area.
I had a pleasant stay overall. The room was very clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially Faiz at the front desk — he was extremely knowledgeable and provided excellent assistance throughout my stay. His service truly made a positive difference.
For just RM200 you are experiencing a hotel that could be on par or better than many 4-star hotels. Lobby lounge was spacious and nice to sit at.
