Workation Proof Accommodation
A 4-star hotel in the centre of Gothenburg, a 5-minute walk from the Central Station. Home Hotel Odin has 244 warm, Scandinavian-styled rooms, with free WiFi and a work desk in every room. Unusually, breakfast, afternoon fika and a dinner buffet are all included in the room rate — making it strong value for longer stays.
Home Hotel Odin is a 4-star hotel on Odinsgatan in central Gothenburg, part of the Strawberry Hotels group and previously known as Clarion Collection Hotel Odin. It has 244 rooms designed around a warm, homely Scandinavian aesthetic — natural wood tones, soft lighting, and an emphasis on making guests feel at home rather than like transient visitors. This philosophy extends to a genuinely unusual proposition for a city hotel: the nightly rate includes a full buffet breakfast, an afternoon fika (Swedish coffee-and-pastry break), and a dinner buffet. For someone staying several nights, this eliminates most of the daily food budget, leaving only lunches to cover. Every room has a proper work desk with chair, free WiFi, and a coffee and tea maker. The building is 550 metres — roughly a 5-minute walk — from Gothenburg Central Station, putting the tram network and long-distance rail on your doorstep.

Room categories run from Compact Singles at 10–12 m² (single 105 cm bed) through Standard Twins at 25–30 m² (two 90 cm beds), Superior Doubles at 35 m² (180 cm double), and up to Deluxe Doubles at 45 m² (180 cm double with a full kitchenette). Studio Apartments at 35 m² offer a single 120 cm bed. Superior Family and Superior Double rooms include a kitchenette with a fridge, which is useful for storing groceries or snacks. Every room comes with a work desk and chair, free WiFi, a coffee and tea maker, flat-screen TV, walk-in shower, hair dryer, iron, and wardrobe. The Compact Single is compact as the name suggests — fine for a short stay but tight for a week-long workation; the Standard Twin or Superior Double is a more comfortable base if you plan to spend real time working from the room.
The Home Hotel concept is built around generous hospitality, and the food inclusion is its most tangible expression. Every night's stay covers a full breakfast buffet each morning, afternoon fika in the lobby (coffee, tea, and a pastry), and a dinner buffet in the evening. This is not common for a city hotel at this price level and it makes a meaningful difference to the daily cost of a longer stay — especially in a Scandinavian city where eating out adds up quickly. The hotel also has a lobby bar serving drinks in the evenings. For lunches and daytime coffees, Nordstan (Gothenburg's enormous central shopping mall, a short walk away) has dozens of quick food options, and the Avenyn strip — the city's main restaurant and café boulevard — is walkable within 10–15 minutes.
The hotel has a free gym for guests, equipped with cardio machines, free weights, and workout machines. Towels are provided and yoga classes and personal training sessions can be arranged on request. For passive recovery after a long day at the desk, there is also an on-site sauna and a steam room, both included for hotel guests. This combination covers most of the wellness routine that digital nomads typically build around their working days — and having it in-building saves the cost of a separate gym membership during your stay.
Home Hotel Odin is on Odinsgatan, a quiet street in Gothenburg's Centrum district. Gothenburg Central Station is 550 metres away — an easy 5-minute flat walk — meaning you have immediate access to the entire tram network (lines 1–11 and 13), long-distance trains to Stockholm (3 hours) and Malmö (1.5 hours), and Flygbussarna coaches to the airport. Nordstan, Scandinavia's largest indoor shopping centre, is adjacent to the station and a short walk from the hotel. Gamla Ullevi Stadium is 400 metres away, Trädgårdsföreningen park is within easy walking distance, and the historic Haga district and Avenyn boulevard are reachable on foot or by a single tram stop. The hotel is well positioned for exploring the city on days off without needing a car.
The hotel is located on Odinsgatan in the Centrum district of Gothenburg, 550 metres from Gothenburg Central Station. Nordstan shopping centre and the main tram interchange at Brunnsparken are both within a short walk. Gamla Ullevi Stadium is 400 metres away, and the Avenyn restaurant and nightlife strip is around 1.5 km on foot.
Gothenburg Landvetter Airport (GOT) is 25 km east of the city. Flygbussarna coaches depart every 15–20 minutes from Nils Ericson Terminalen, the bus station directly behind Gothenburg Central Station (a 5-minute walk from the hotel). The journey takes 20–35 minutes and costs around 119 SEK one way when booked online (139 SEK purchased on the bus). A taxi to the airport runs around 500–560 SEK and takes roughly 25 minutes in normal traffic. Flixbus also serves the airport at competitive prices on some routes.
